A natural Paradise on the Costa Blanca
11 kilometers of fine sand beaches
Guardamar del Segura is a town on the Costa Blanca, located on the Segura river´s mouth, hence its name. If you’re a beach lover, you can’t miss its 11 kilometers of fine sandy beaches.
Guardamar del Segura beaches
On the northern side of the river is El Tossals Beach, a naturist beach stretching over 1.5 km. This pristine beach is surrounded by dense vegetation and natural sand dunes.
The rest of the beaches with a total length arount 9 km are found on the south of the mouth of the Segura River.
Vivers Beach, bordered on the north by the river´s mouth, is a pristine, fine-sand beach with a Blue Flag designation and a lenght just over 1 km. It is surrounded by a strip of dunes anchored by vegetation and a pine forest. Around the dune area, you can visit the archaeological sites of the Islamic Caliphal Rábita and the Phoenician city of La Fonteta.
Babilonia is the following beach and has 1 km of golden sand. This beach holds a very unique history, particularly in the houses located right on the beach. This small neighborhood of Guardamar was established in the early 20th century and was named after a picnic area next to a water well called “Casa Babilonia”. Today, these houses do not comply with coastal laws and some have been demolished.
Centre Beach, 427 m long and Blue Flag certified, is the closest beach to the town center. It runs along Guardamar’s promenade. Near this beach is Reina Sofía Park, a natural area with fountains, small lakes, vegetation, and wildlife.
Roqueta Beach, one of our favorites for swimming. It’s a Blue Flag beach, just over 1 km long with fine, golden sand. It also has all kinds of services, making it a great place to spend the day with family or friends. This beach is home to the El Jardín restaurant, located on the ground floor of the Hotel Meridional, where you can enjoy one of the best Paellas in town.
To the south of La Roqueta Beach is Montcaio Beach, also a Blue Flag recipient, with 1.5 km of golden sand. This beach stands out for its location in a transitional zone between the village and the southern dunes.
Playa del Camp: 2,021 m of golden sand, dunes, and Mediterranean vegetation dotted with pine forests make up this natural beach. It’s a very peaceful beach that also has a Blue Flag.
Finally, the southernmost beach in Guardamar del Segura, Les Ortigues Beach, also awarded a Blue Flag and measuring 1.5 km long, is a vast, unspoiled beach of fine, golden sand with wide-open spaces. It’s an area dotted with dunes where the Mediterranean Sea shines a deep blue.
